how to get clients... what is the best way?

Hi,
I'm an architecture student from Holland and I'm very curious to hear all your visions. Next to my study I work for a contractor, and thanks to this I have the opportunity to get in contact with loads of people and possible business relations. So what I think is the best way to get clients is to try and create a wide range of business relations.
Of course, if you deliver good work people will allways talk about you. I believe many architects (at least here in the Netherlands) sometime push there own vision beyond their client's. This does not allways do good for your career.
Really looking forward for some other opinions!

I guess i unfortunately have to agree to the above opinion.
Even Though the best way to get clients is marketing through your previous works, so built a good portfolio of your works, and of course the other point is to be friendly and nice, and sometimes nicer than you want...

Just to the Question - 'What is the best Way' ? Well,business have diffrent natures but similar motive. If its a kind of service or of trading in tengible goods!
In this Era of compact world where electronic media have helped alot in spreading the business and fetching more opportunities.
Your best interaction with clients will fetch you more business evrytime.

Here,i would put an example of Dubai Infrastructure where, its been one of the most
pleasant to eyes in an effective ways. People have seen the wonders of Architect, have seen the imaginations shaping into reality !
I can suggest you only one thing , The Best is nothing and noone but You are !
jjust be Best in your work and let the people with best planings take you with !
show tham out the posiblities in a positive way....be passionate and help tham with all the sources even in Legal aspects !

Get into competitions. Do not try to do better than others, do the best you can.
Your portfolio must speak for yourself, clean and professional. Take advantage of technology
More important, do not try to conquer the world by yourself, get a partner with the same or higher level of desire...
Do not work hard, work harder. If you think school was hard... you are in the wrong path. You must always be teaching yourself.
Do not be shy nor closed minded; be always open to suggestions...
Do not get disappointed on the first rejection or if you ever worked for free,remember experience always count.
Building a social network is imperative for any career now days.
A good starting and great referrals is what we need.
